Earlier this week, Disney released it’s highly anticipated (though somewhat limited) Free Dining Offer. Just a couple of days have passed and there are now even more offers to tell you about.

The first is the Bask in the Sun & Fun Room Offer and the other is a Free Dining Plan for kids offer. Both offers provide guests with options for saving on their vacation packages and we’ll let you know our 10¢ on each!

The Room Offer Details Polynesian Resort Lobby Statue

First up, the Bask in the Sun & Fun Room Offer released gives guests between 10% and 25% off the room rate at select Disney Resort Hotels during the Spring and Summer months. The chart is super complicated because your discount will depend on a couple of factors – when you travel, and which resort you choose to visit. I’ll Like most room offers, staying at a Moderate or Deluxe Resort will get you a higher percentage savings, but there are lots of exceptions. There are a few important dates to remember here.

The room offer is divided into 3 different sections:

  • April 1st, 2020 to April 25th, 2020
  • April 26th, 2020 to July 9th, 2020
  • July 10th, 2020 to September 12th, 2020

The percentage that you save may change in each section, depending on which resort you are looking to visit. For stays between July 10 and September 12, you have to book by February 26th, 2020 to be eligible for the discount. For stays April 1st to July 9th, you have more flexibility to book.

That being said, for Canadians, this deal is an opportunity to double up on your savings. If you book a room deal, you can also make it a vacation package by adding Canadian Resident Tickets. While you can use the tickets anytime during 2020, unfortunately, the Canadian Resident Ticket deal is only available to book until February 7th, 2020 at Walt Disney World, so you may have to act fast. Confusing? Perhaps…but the savings can be well-worth the headache trying to figure it out. You can see the Room Offer details at this link here, or we’ll post the chart below:

Spring and Summer 2020 Room Offer Chart

As with most offers, there are some fine-print important details. The number of rooms available is limited for the offer and there are sometimes length-of-stay requirements (but who only wants 1 night?). The offer (like so many others) excludes the campsites, 3-bedroom villas, Cabins at Copper Creek and Wilderness Lodge as well as the Bungalows at the Polynesian.

The Free Dining Plan for Kids Offer Dining - Small Mickey Waffles

This deal is (mercifully) a little more straight-forward. When you purchase a non-discounted 4-night/4-day vacation package for you and the kids (kids are ages 3-9) that includes a room at a Disney Resort hotel, theme park tickets and a dining plan, your kids dining plans are free.

This offer is valid for arrivals most nights from May 25th to August 28th, 2020. The offer also has to be booked by February 26th, 2020.

There are a couple of things to note about this offer. First, you cannot combine this offer with Canadian Resident Tickets. Secondly, the type of free dining plan your kids receive depends on the type of dining plan you purchase for everyone else in your travelling party (who is 10 or older). If you purchase the Quick Service Dining Plan, your kids will receive a free Quick Service Dining Plan. The same thing applies if you purchase the regular Disney Dining Plan or the Deluxe Dining Plan for yourselves.

Like the room offer, the free Dining Plan for kids excludes the campsites, 3-bedroom villas, Cabins at Copper Creek and Wilderness Lodge as well as the Bungalows at the Polynesian. It also excludes the Little Mermaid Standard Rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

Our 10¢ Sky Walk Bridge at Disney's Contemporary Resort

If we look at both offers, there’s a clear winner in our minds. The Bask in the Sun & Fun Room Offer, when combined with Canadian Resident Tickets will almost always give you the best price. However, it does depend on the number of kids you have between the ages of 3 and 9…but in most cases, two offers are better than one.

Thankfully, unlike the other Free Dining offer that Disney released earlier this week, the dates you can book are fairly wide open. The room offer in particular gives you an option for saving anytime between April 1st and September 12th, 2020. The tricky part here is the booking window. With Canadian Resident Tickets only available for purchase until February 7th, your time to book a Walt Disney World vacation package is slim. Yes, we’re only a week into 2020, and the holidays can take their toll on anyone’s wallet, but if you are considering a vacation to Walt Disney World sometime in those dates, I highly recommend booking a package with a refundable $200 USD deposit (the remainder is due 30 days prior to travel).

Disney's Boardwalk Resort

If you’re wondering which offer is best for you, we recommend a few things to help you compare prices. You can compare the vacation packages on Disney’s website (there’s a handy little feature to help you do that). You can also call in directly to Disney to book or modify your vacation package and the Disney agent should be able to give you all of your pricing options. The third way is to book with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner agency – that’s a travel agency which Disney has authorized and they should also be able to get you the best price for the dates you want to travel.

If you are planning to travel to Walt Disney world this Spring or Summer, we hope you’re able to plan a vacation that takes advantage of these savings! Good luck, and happy savings!!
