Disney’s website now officially marks the Disney Skyliner system as being re-opened for operation as of October 14th, 2019. After an incident on October 5th, the transportation system had been closed while Disney conducted a series of rigorous tests to ensure the safety of its guests.

As it returns to normal operation, Disney has posted that between October 16-18, there will be modified operating hours of 1pm-10:30pm on some of the lines. After those dates, the Skyliner is scheduled to return to normal service (8am-10:30pm). Hours are subject to change.

We’re glad to see Disney respond so quickly after the incident to make sure that all guests can travel safely aboard the Skyliner. As it returns to normal service, it seems like the Disney Cast Members are all operating with an abundance of caution to prevent any future downtime.

The Skyliner is an aerial cable system that carries gondolas on three separate lines:

  • Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort to Epcot, via Disney’s Riviera Resort

Each line takes on average 5-10 minutes to travel, with gondolas holding up to 10 guests at a time.
