Great news for all Canadian Disney fans! The moment you have been waiting for has finally arrived and it’s even better than we imagined.
The Canadian Resident Ticket offer is back!!!
As of September 25th, 2019, Canadians can purchase tickets for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland and receive a savings of 20% off the standard ticket price.
Needless to say, we’re thrilled to see Disney release this offer again this year as it makes planning a trip to either Walt Disney World or Disneyland a little more affordable.
The number one thing to keep in mind with these tickets (like last year), is the fact that you do need proof of Canadian residency. In years past, this meant activating your tickets at guest relations located at any of the four theme parks or Disney Springs. Any adult needs their proof (usually a Passport) before the offer will be validated. Also, as it was with previous years, there are details to keep in mind for each offer, so we’ll dive into the fine print here:
Walt Disney World
At Walt Disney World, any park ticket that is 4-days or longer (1-Park-Per-Day, Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus) is eligible for the 20% savings.
Guests can purchase tickets through February 7th, 2020 and the ticket start date must be on or before December 31st, 2020. The offer is not available at the Walt Disney World Resort theme park ticket windows, so they must be purchased ahead of time or added to a resort package.
Disneyland

©Disney
At Disneyland, any 1-Park ticket or Park Hopper ticket that is 3-days or longer is also eligible for 20% savings!
Guests can purchase their Disneyland tickets through February 16th, 2020 and prior to travel to the Disneyland Resort. Again, the offer is not available at the Disneyland Resort Main Entrance ticket booths, so purchase them ahead of time to take advantage of the savings.
Our 10¢
The Canadian Resident ticket offer has been a game changer in the past few years. It’s important to remember that they can be bought outright but are non-refundable. They can also be added to a non-discounted vacation package for the specified travel dates. But, this means that anyone who is planning a last minute trip for 2019 can also reap the benefits of the 20% savings. If you’re not planning a last minute jet-set to either Disneyland or Walt Disney World for 2019, then 2020 is also an excellent year to take advantage of the offer.
As an example, if you were planning on purchasing 3-day tickets to Walt Disney World, it’s actually less expensive to purchase the 4-day Canadian Resident tickets! Plan an extra day, or visit a park on your travel day. Either way, you’re coming out ahead. 20% may not seem like much, but it can definitely make a difference to the bottom line of your vacation. Especially for families, the savings can really add up (which just gives you more leeway to purchase extra souvenirs to take home).
This is also a great way to make sure you get a chance to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. With “Rise of the Resistance” opening December 5th at Walt Disney World and January 17th at Disneyland, we highly recommend using the Canadian Resident Ticket offer to make sure you get down to see this brand new land and experience all that Batuu has to offer!
Are you planning on visiting Disneyland or Walt Disney World in the remainder of 2019 or into 2020? We’d love to hear about your plans in the comments below.
Happy Travels!!
If they have this in the future can you claim this offer and a room only discount? I heard you can’t claim two discounts.
If a future offer were to work the same that it has in the past, then you can utilize both a Canadian Resident Ticket offer and a room-only offer. If, for some reason, it’s not possible to get both offers as a part of a vacation package, you can always purchase the Canadian Resident Tickets outright and then apply a room-only offer to your resort stay. Typically, Disney has allowed Canadians to access both offers for a single vacation package, though it may involve calling Disney Reservations directly (or getting your travel agent to call in) to make sure both offers are applied.
I hope that helps!
Hello we purchased our Canadian tickets November 2029 for our arrival in May 2020. My husband receives a chemotherapy drug to suppress his immune system. Required a lot of planning and timing to book our trip between treatments. Now covid-19. It is not safe for us to travel. Borders are closed to us. Our travel insurance is expired and we are unable to renew. Our tickets say non-refundable but due to health restrictions, travel restrictions and uncertain economic times would Disney consider contacting me in regards to our five day ticket purchase. We reside in Canada, have been twice and this visit was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Was disappointing but many have lost loved ones and our hearts go out to these dear ones. Life is precious and we have the utmost respect for these closures.
Hi Lynda,
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your travel plans, but we hope you and your husband continue to stay safe and healthy during this time.
Your Canadian Resident Tickets fall within the usage window when the parks were closed. Because of that, your tickets will automatically be extended to use any date through September 26, 2021. If you are unable to visit by September 26, 2021, you may apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date.
If you are able to visit before Sept 26, 2021, then you can certainly use your tickets. If you can’t visit until a date later than that, when you go to purchase your tickets for the future dates, make sure to call into the Disney Reservation Center at (407) W-DISNEY or (407) 934-7639. They will be able to apply the value of your purchased tickets towards the purchase of future tickets.
I hope this helps!
Take care!
We have purchased these tickets directly from Disney. We have passports but don’t need them to travel in the US, as we have nexus. What can we use instead of our passports, as proof of residency?
Hi Nicole,
You should be able to use your drivers licenses as proof of residency. I would probably recommend taking a photo of your passports on your phone as well, just in case. The drivers licenses should be enough to activate the Canadian tickets. Only adults would need to show proof of residency.
Good luck!
Hey!! Do you know if they release this deal
more then once a year. We are looking at going in November but haven’t made a solid date yet. But the deal expires tomorrow?
Hi Laurie,
In past years, Disney has only released the Canadian Resident Ticket promotion once during the year. You can select a starting date for tickets, but once you move onto the purchasing phase of the process, there is the Flexible Dates Option that allows you to start using your tickets any day on or before Dec 31st, 2020. It does cost more, so it will depend on whether the flexibility is worth the cost for you.
I hope that helps!
Hi,
Do you know if Expedia that has the 4day/4 parks tickets are legit? on Expedia.ca under: Things to do
Hi Beth,
We typically always recommend purchasing your tickets directly through Disney or through an Authorized Disney Travel Agent. While the tickets from Expedia are legitimate tickets, if there is an issue with the tickets at all, you may not be able to resolve it through Disney directly. The 4-day/4-parks tickets are available directly from Disney and you can find the link here:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/admission/tickets/4-park-magic-offer/
Expedia just charges you the same amount for the tickets, just priced in Canadian Dollars. I would recommend purchasing them directly from Disney
Good luck!
Do you have any idea if the purchase price of the Canadian Resident tickets can be later upgraded to an annual pass?
Hi Sandi,
Anytime you purchase Disney tickets, you can upgrade them to an annual pass, as long as you have not used the last day of tickets and they have not expired. After you purchase the tickets, you can upgrade them to an annual pass by calling Disney or visiting Guest Services at the parks. You would be required to pay the difference between your Canadian Resident tickets and the annual pass.
I hope that helps!
Can a Standard a Theme Park ticket be used by Canadian Resident. Because I am not having 4 days and was thinking to buy a 2 day ticket
Hi Nitin,
Yes, you can still purchase standard 1, 2 and 3-day base tickets to use in the parks, there just aren’t any discounts for Canadian Residents on those lengths of tickets.
You can purchase Standard Theme Park Tickets here:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/admission/tickets/theme-parks/
So, we could use these passes at universal studios too?
Hi Judy,
Unfortunately, the Canadian Resident Tickets are only for use at the Walt Disney World parks: Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom.
Universal Studios Orlando does currently have a Canadian Resident Vacation Package available. You can find the information here:
https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/tickets-packages/vacation-packages/canadian-resident-specials
I hope that helps!
Hi! Can you use all 4 tickets (without the Park Hopper option) to visit only 3 parks (for example, go twice to Magic Kingdom then once to Animal Kingdom and once to Hollywood Studio and skip Epcot)? Or you MUST visit all 4 parks?
Hi Gen,
You can absolutely use each day to visit whichever of the 4 parks you would like to visit. Even if you wanted to visit Magic Kingdom 4 times!
Have fun!
We haven’t decided if we are staying at a Disney resort yet. Can I buy the tickets and then decide if we are staying in a Disney resort?
Hi Ric,
Yes, if you purchase the tickets now, you can still decide to stay at a Disney resort later. The tickets are non-refundable and you would have to pay in full if you purchase them now, outside of a Disney vacation package, but you can link those tickets to your My Disney Experience account and use them whether you stay at a Disney resort this year or not.
We just missed this deal but we are going in november 2020 do you think they will release the deal again before then?
It’s always possible. They released Canadian tickets for 2020 in late 2019, but the tickets could still be used in 2019. Keep an eye out, because it is possible, but each year that Disney has offered the Canadian Resident Tickets, the release dates haven’t been consistent. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you!
Is the last day to buy the Florida Disney World tickets February 7th?
Hi Abby,
That’s correct. Canadian Resident Tickets for Walt Disney World (for a start date anytime up until Dec 31, 2020), must be purchased by February 7th, 2020.
Does this offer happen every year? I am going March 2021 and can’t take advantage of this deal now.
Hi David,
The Canadian Resident Ticket offer has come out for the past few years, but unfortunately, there’s no guarantee it will continue every year. We certainly hope Disney continues to offer this each year, but we would likely have to wait until later in 2020 if Disney will announce the offer for 2021. When 2021 vacation packages are released (usually in late spring/summer), you can always book a package with regular tickets and if the Canadian Resident Ticket offer comes out for 2021, you should be able to modify your tickets without any change fee up to 30 days prior to your vacation.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you that the offer comes out for 2021!
Trying to book a package (room, tickets, meal plan) and it doesn’t seem to be giving me the discounted ticket price. I checked my URL (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA) and it seems to know I’m in Canada. Any idea if you have to purchase separately?
Hi Chris,
You may need to make sure you are signed into your My Disney Experience account for the system to offer Canadian Resident Tickets to you. Your vacation package would have to include 4 days of tickets to qualify for the Canadian Resident discount. If it’s still not showing up, try a different (or incognito) browser. If all else fails, you can book the package with regular tickets and then call Disney to have them modified to the Canadian Resident Tickets – (407) WDISNEY or (407) 934-7639, but if you are travelling within 30 days, call them first and have them book the package over the phone with you.
I hope that helps!
If you buy these tickets now do you have to pick your exact start date now, or can you change the start date later?
Hi Julie,
The Canadian Resident Tickets are date-based, so you do have to select a starting date when you purchase them. While the tickets are non-refundable, you would be able to call in to Disney to have the start date adjusted, though it may affect the price.
I hope that helps!
Where do I even start? Could you possibly send a link? Thanks.
Hi Alison,
You can find Canadian Resident Tickets here for Walt Disney World:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/admission/tickets/
or Disneyland:
https://disneyland.disney.go.com/en-ca/tickets/
Enjoy!
If you buy this Canadian resident ticket are you still able to sign up for restaurant reservations and your first fast pass even though you don’t get your tickets till you arrive at the gate?
Absolutely! You can still link these tickets to your My Disney Experience account and book restaurants (180 days in advance) and FastPasses (60 days in advance for on-site guests or 30-days for non-resort guests) as you normally would.
