Canadian Resident Ticket Offer
Canadian Disney fans were thrilled this week with the news that the Canadian Resident Ticket Offer has been released again. Guests can enjoy savings of 20% on select tickets at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Be sure to check out our post for all of the details! Suffice it to say, this has been a perennial favourite offer that Disney has given to Canadians over the past few years. We’re glad to see it come back as it makes a trip to Disney just a little more affordable!
Coming to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Plant-Based Dining offers hundreds of dishes available throughout the Disney parks and resorts. At Walt Disney World, starting October 1st, all major quick-service dining locations will offer plant-based options with table-service restauarants following on October 3rd. According to Disney, more than 400 dishes will be on the menus across the parks and resorts. Examples of some of the dishes include:
- Steamed Asian Dumplings from Le Cellier at Epcot
- Shiriki Noodle Salad from Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen
- Plant-Based Cashew Cheesecake from California Grill
Some dining locations, like Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, already have plant-based dishes on the menu… the Felucian Garden Spread.
At Disneyland, guests will be able to enjoy plant-based dishes starting in Spring of 2020. On the menus, guests at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland will begin to see a brand new icon, indicating plant-based options!
Honestly, it’s great to see Disney getting ahead of the curve here. Plant-based proteins are a great option for vegans, vegetarians and any guests interested in sustainability. That being said, these dishes actually are great for everyone and I highly recommend you try them out as you start to see them show up in the restaurants.

Flower & Garden Dates Announced
The International Epcot Flower & Garden Festival is set to return in 2020 for its 27th year! From March 4th to June 1st, 2020, guests will enjoy all the beautiful character topiaries, gardens and outdoor kitchens. As Epcot’s longest-running festival, this 90-day celebration is a perennial favourite (that’s just a little garden pun for you).
Disney has announced a new topiary to be added this year. Remy will be the centrepiece of a new garden in the France Pavilion – the Ratatouille Garden. In addition to the other character topiaries in the park, the Goodness Garden Butterfly House also makes its return for all the guests who are looking for the perfect Instagram shot of a butterfly (who knows, maybe one will land on you).
Lauren and I agree that the Flower & Garden Festival is our favourite Epcot festival throughout the year. The combination of gorgeous, vibrant flowers and incredible topiaries make the park come alive in such a unique way. The outdoor kitchens are just a nice added bonus on top, but really, everything the festival has to offer is what draws us to it. Springtime is a perfect time to visit Walt Disney World and it brings with it the joy of good weather. The perfect remedy for a Canadian winter.
Epcot Forever Debuts October 1st
In celebration of the debut performance of Epcot Forever, the Disney Parks Blog is live-streaming the opening night on October 1st. Tune in to the Disney Parks Blog starting at 8:50pm ET and enjoy!
I’m so excited for the new show, but I always hesitate when a new nighttime spectacular makes its debut. I always think back to the first time I saw Fantasmic, Illuminations, Wishes or Happily Ever After for the first time and it’s striking how impactful it is to see it live, in-person, for the first time. That being said, with Epcot’s new spectacular “HarmonioUs” set to debut in 2020, if you can’t make it to the parks in time, then ignore what I just mentioned previously and watch that thing with all your might!
Mickey Shorts Theatre Opening in Hollywood Studios
Let it be known that I love the newest iteration of Mickey Mouse shorts (cartoons). I love the whimiscal style in which they are animated and I think the writing brings us back to the intention of the original Disney short animated stories. You can imagine my delight when Disney announced that they will be creating a reimagined venue in the theatre district of Hollywood Studios. To be called the “Mickey Shorts Theater”, we know very little about the new venue, but if I were to hazard a guess, I think it’s safe to say that we’ll see Mickey shorts (cartoons) playing inside.
We don’t know which venue is being reimagined, but my one hope is that we don’t see the removal of One Man’s Dream to make way for the theatre. I always love to take a break during the day and stroll through the world of the man who started it all (though he’ll claim “that it was all started by a mouse”). Time will tell, but I’m excited at the prospect of more access to the Mickey Mouse shorts. Alas, I suppose Disney+ will also be an excellent avenue for that.
Disney Skyliner Officially Opens
It’s the moment that many guests have been waiting for. The Disney Skyliner officially opened on Sunday. Guests from Disney’s Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, Riviera (when it opens) resorts can now hop on the Skyliner. Travel between resorts, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot, with each leg of the journey lasting under 10 minutes. Almost 300 gondolas will take to the sky, transporting up to 10 guests at a time.
Maleficent Experiences to try!
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the follow up live-action movie featuring the titular character, opens in theatres October 18th. In preparation for its arrival, Disney has added a sneak peak to the daily performances of Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Disney’s California Adventure. In addition, photo walls will pop up in both California Adventure and Downtown Disney. Guests will get the opportunity to pose with their own Maleficent wings.
